Resource Center- Counseling Office

PHS Counseling Center is located at the Resource Center, formerly known as Study Hall. The purpose of the Counseling Office to be in the Resource Center is to have all career information, resources and materials as well as counseling services in one place to serve the diverse group of students and teachers. Its goal is helping students make informed educational and career choices and carry out plans by providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills.

Counseling Center has four Counselors and they are assigned according to student last names. For example, students whose last names begin with letter A to KI are assigned to Counselor, Yuri Kishigawa, students with last names starting with KL to RD are assigned to Counselor, Cynthia Malsol, and students with last names starting with RE to Z are assigned to Counselor, Ulai Tomoichi, and students who are classified under special education program (SPED) are assigned to Counselor, Norris Orrukem. Even though each counselor is assigned a group of students to handle, any student is welcome to visit anyone of them for counseling purposes.

The Resource Center is available to all students for the following services:

  1. Provides variety of resources and materials for use in Career Development Classes.
  2. Computers for students to do research in the internet or other class activities related to the career academy program.
  3. Assistance in Federal Financial Aid Forms and Scholarship information and deadlines
  4. Assistance in post-secondary school applications.
  5. College catalogs and applications available to Juniors and Seniors
  6. Assistance in standardized test applications (SAT & TOEFL)
  7. Academic counseling
  8. Personal counseling
  9. Career guidance and counseling

The use of the center is strictly for students and school related activities during working hours only. To use the center, teachers must call in advance and reserve the center in order to have the space. Students who are sent to the Center, will be assigned a work by the counselors that relates to the Comprehensive Career Guidance Program.
